21 Brix Winery, in conjunction with Olde Chautauqua Farms and Portage Pies will be holding their First Annual Summer Fruit Festival. After picking cherries at the U-Pick Cherry Orchard which belongs to Olde Chautauqua Farms (6645 West Main Road, Portland, NY), come across the street to 21 Brix Winery to enjoy a glass of wine and a slice of pie made by Portage Pies. Anticipated pie varieties include cherry, peach, strawberry-rhubarb and red raspberry.

We like to think of Chautauqua in June as the ‘pre-season’ to the Chautauqua Institution opening. There are plenty of things happening around the county but the busy summer season isn’t upon us….yet.

We’re offering 2 Chautauqua in June classes this year at the winery.

Wine, Seasonings and Food Pairings Class - Friday, June 7 from 7:00 - 9:00pm

- Saturday, June 15 from 11:00am - 1:30pm

Dave Callaghan and Uptime Jazz - Saturday, May 25th

Beats at the Brix music series continues May 25th featuring Dave Callaghan and Uptime Jazz. This jazz quartet, based out of Erie, Pa will be performing during this extended hour night from 7:00 - 10:00pm. Weather premitting we will be outside so feel free to bring lawn chairs, blankets, and some munchies. As always there is no cover, however a wine purchase is required. So 21 and over, only please.

2012 Gewürztraminer Released - New Wines Coming Soon

So the bad news is, we just sold out of our delicious 2011 Gewürztraminer. The good news is, we just released our delicious 2012 Gewürztraminer! Visit our tasting room today for a sample of the new vintage. The new wine displays hints of light citrus and undertones of crushed caraway seed, flavors of lychee and passion fruit, with a nice smooth finish. The 0.85% residual sugar content balances with the acidity and full flavor of the wine to produce a smooth dry flavorful experience.

Keep an eye on this page for news of other upcoming releases. The 2012 Dry Riesling will be released at the end of March, followed soon after by Marquis, Pinot Grigio, Pinot Rosé and Chardonnay.

Springtime in Paris - A Progressive Supper - Saturday, April 6, 2013

Enjoy French-inspired cuisine paired with delicious wines at three wineries along Route 20. You will begin your evening with hors d’oeuvres, wine and a tour at Liberty Vineyards and Winery in Sheridan. Next, savor your choice of Beef Bourguignon or Sole with Beurre Blanc Sauce, and learn about wine tasting and pairing at 21 Brix Winery. Finally, end your evening at Johnson Estate Winery in Westfield, where you will enjoy dessert and wine pairings and learn about ice wine.

Adult Only Easter Egg Hunt - Saturday, March 30, 2013

Join us for the first annual adult only easter egg hunt at 21 Brix Winery! Search, and you shall find classic decorated eggs and plastic eggs filled with goodies and IOUs for bottles of our wine. That’s something worth putting in your Easter Basket! Cost is $5 per person. Space is limited, and your ticket must be purchased by March 23rd. Please wear appropriate shoes and clothing, as the hunt will take place outside, and will happen rain or shine. The hunt will begin at 11:00am sharp, don’t be late!

Girls' Day Out - This Saturday, March 2nd - 12:00pm to 5:00pm

Get your girlfriends together and come visit our tasting room this Saturday for Girls’ Day Out, from 12:00 to 5:00pm. Enjoy a glass of wine (or two, or three) and peruse our vendor tables. We’ll have representatives from The Pampered Chef, Mary Kay, Thirty-One, The Studio at Panterra Yoga/Eight Limbs Wellness and several others, including craft dealers showcasing thier scrunch scarves, jewelery, and wine bottle tea lights. There may be other surprizes as well, but you have to be here to find out about those! Our raspberry and house wines are all back in stock, so this is the perfect time to visit if you haven’t been here in a while.

21 Brix Winery Brings Gold Home from the 2013 International Eastern Wine Competition

Results are in for the 2013 International Eastern Wine Competition and our Vidal Blanc Ice Wine brought home the Best of Show award and gold medal! Gold was also awarded to Ella’s Red. Cherry, Noiret, Gewurztraminer and Semi Dry Riesling all earned Silver, and Blaufrankisch, Pinot Noir, Cayuga, and Sweet Riesling earned Bronze. We’re grateful for the recognition our ice wine received in a competition that focuses on the eastern US, midwest, and Canada - modern home of the ice wine style of wine making.
